DSCC Administrator Abdus Salam has said that all arrangements have been finalised for the main Eid-ul-Fitr congregation to be held at National Eidgah in the capital. According to him, the main Eid congregation is scheduled to begin at 8:30 AM and Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is expected to attend the prayers.
The National Eidgah ground, which covers around 25,400 square metres, can accommodate approximately 35,000 devotees at a time. Considering the possibility of adverse weather conditions, rain protection coverings and special drainage systems have also been put in place. If the weather becomes unfavourable, the main Eid congregation will instead be held at Baitul Mukarram National Mosque at 9:00 AM.
The DSCC administrator said drinking water facilities will be available at entry points and inside the Eidgah premises, while primary medical services and mobile toilet facilities have also been arranged for devotees.
A total of four gates have been designated for entry, including separate access for VIPs and general devotees, while seven gates will be used for exit. The entire area will remain under strict security surveillance by law enforcement agencies, and fire service units will remain on standby to respond to any emergency.
Besides the Prime Minister, the Chief Justice, cabinet members, diplomats and senior government officials are also expected to attend the main congregation. Abdus Salam said all preparations have been taken to ensure that devotees can perform the Eid prayers smoothly in a peaceful environment.
