Iran clears 6 Bangladeshi ships

International Desk

Iran's National Security Council has permitted six stranded Bangladeshi vessels to pass through the Strait of Hormuz.

Speaking at a press conference held at the Iranian Embassy in Dhaka on Wednesday, Iranian Ambassador to Bangladesh Jalil Rahimi Jahanabadi said that both Iran and Bangladesh are actively working to facilitate the safe return of the vessels.
He also noted that Bangladesh’s Foreign Minister has sent a letter to Iran’s Foreign Minister expressing gratitude for Tehran’s assistance in ensuring the return of Bangladeshi nationals.
The ambassador emphasised that Bangladesh’s shipping operations would face no obstacles and that Tehran is committed to providing maximum support. He also addressed the country’s fuel shortage, noting that images of long queues at petrol pumps had been sent to Iranian authorities, requesting assistance to avoid disruption.

However, ambassador Jalil Rahimi mentioned that Iran has expressed some dissatisfaction regarding Bangladesh's official statement on the ongoing conflict in the Middle East. While acknowledging Bangladesh's expression of concern, he emphasized that a stronger condemnation of the situation was expected.
