Dr. Md Ershad Halim, a professor in the Chemistry Department of Dhaka University, has been suspended temporarily after finding preliminary truth of allegations of sexual harassment of female students.
The authorities informed the matter on Monday following a meeting of the Syndicate.
A five-member investigation committee, led by the principal of Sir Salimullah Medical College, has been formed to probe into this matter. Other members include Supreme Court lawyer Barrister Moniruzzaman, Assistant Proctor Dr. Enamul Haque Sajib, a representative of the accused professor and the university’s Deputy Registrar (Investigation) as member-secretary.
