Sajek Valley under evacuation.

National Desk

The Bangladesh Army and police on Friday began evacuating the remaining 421 tourists stranded in Sajek Valley under tight security as weather conditions improved.

The convoy left Sajek at around 9:00am and is travelling to Khagrachhari via Baghaihat.

The evacuation follows Thursday's operation, when 150 stranded tourists were safely escorted out of the hill resort.

Meanwhile, the flood situation in Khagrachhari has improved as river water receded, restoring normalcy in several low-lying areas. However, parts of Merung Union remain inundated, with thousands of families still marooned. Intermittent rainfall continues, raising fears of fresh flooding.
