Bhutanese King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck made a brief stopover in Dhaka early Wednesday while travelling from Singapore to Bhutan, where President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir received him at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.
The special flight carrying the Bhutanese monarch landed in Dhaka in the early hours of and remained at the airport for around an hour.
During the stopover, the president held a courtesy meeting with the King at the airport’s VVIP lounge.
The two leaders held a cordial discussion on various issues of mutual interest.
President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir invited the Bhutanese King and members of the royal family to make a state visit to Bangladesh at a mutually convenient time.
In response, King Jigme Khesar invited the president and prime minister of Bangladesh to visit Bhutan at their convenience.
