RANGPUR, Oct 13, 2026 - The Special Response Battalion (SRB)-13 arrested the prime accused in the kidnapping case of a teenage girl victim from Rangpur from Rangpuria Bazar (Rajfulbaria) area under Savar police station of Dhaka district on Monday night.
The arrestee is Md Sayed Mia, 18, son of Hafizar Rahman from Girai village under Mithapukur police station of Rangpur district, a press release said here this afternoon.
Citing the statement of the related case filed by the victim teenager's father, the release said that the victim of the same village was a 2026 SSC examinee.
On June 11, 2026, she went missing while on her way to her aunt's house.
While searching for the girl, her father learned that on June 11 at 3:15 pm, the accused Md Sayed Mia, along with several accomplices, had abducted her in an auto-bike.
Subsequently, the victim's father filed a kidnapping case at Mithapukur police station.
On a tip-off, a joint team comprising SRB-13 from Rangpur and SRB-4 from Manikganj conducted a raid in the Rangpuria Bazar (Rajfulbaria) area of Dhaka and arrested the prime accused abductor Md Sayed Mia at 10:40 pm on Monday.
The arrested accused has been handed over to Mithapukur police station of Rangpur for further legal proceedings. (BSS)
