Election Commission (EC) on Sunday approved 57 out of 70 appeals filed against returning officers’ decisions on nomination papers for the upcoming 13th National Parliamentary Election. The second day of appeal hearings concluded at 5:00 PM, the EC confirmed. Among the remaining applicants, seven appeals were rejected, while six were kept pending with dates assigned for further review.
The hearings, which began on Saturday at 10:00 AM, will continue until January 18.
On Saturday, appeals numbered 1 to 70 were heard, while Sunday covered appeals 71 to 140. Monday will see appeals 141 to 210 reviewed and Tuesday will cover 211 to 280.
According to the revised election schedule, all appeals must be resolved by January 18.
Candidates can withdraw their nominations until January 20, after which the returning officers will announce the final list of candidates and assign symbols on January 21.
The official election campaign will begin on January 22 and continue until February 10 at 7:30 AM. Voting will take place on February 12 from 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM.
