Bangladesh Army Chief General Waker-Uz-Zaman has urged all military personnel involved in the 13th Jatiya Sangsad (JS) Election and Referendum to carry out their duties with professionalism, impartiality, discipline, patience and a citizen-friendly approach.
Speaking during a visit to Mymensingh ahead of the February 12, 2026 national polls, the Army Chief emphasized the importance of maintaining security while ensuring that the electoral process remains free, fair, and peaceful, according to a statement from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Directorate.
During his visit, General Waker-Uz-Zaman met with senior military officials, law enforcement representatives, and civil administration officers at Mymensingh City Corporation.
The discussions focused on inter-agency coordination, overall security management, and preparations for the upcoming election.
As part of his inspection, the Army Chief provided guidance to personnel deployed under the “In Aid to the Civil Power” program, ensuring their readiness to support the civil authorities during the election period.
In addition to election-related duties, General Waker laid the foundation stone for the Olympic Village at Trishal and attended a board meeting of the Olympic Association.
The visit was attended by top military officials, including the General Officer Commanding of Army Training and Doctrine Command, Engineer-in-Chief of the Army, GOC of the 19 Infantry Division, Area Commander of Ghatail, and Director General of the National Telecommunication Monitoring Center. Senior officials from the Ministry of Youth and Sports, civil administration, law enforcement agencies, and media representatives were also present.
The Army Chief’s visit underscores the commitment of the military to support the electoral process while maintaining discipline and a people-friendly approach.
