Md. Shipon, 31, succumbed to his injuries around 7:00 PM at Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery, according to Resident Physician Assistant Professor Dr. Shawon Bin Rahman.

The doctor said Shipon had suffered 83 percent burns along with inhalation injuries. He had been receiving treatment at ICU since the incident.

Earlier, five other members of the same family died from injuries sustained in the explosion.

Three other victims remain hospitalised in critical condition, the doctor added.

Earlier, the explosion occurred early Monday morning at a flat on the third floor of a six-storey building named Halima Manzil, adjacent to AC Mosque at H Block area. Accumulated gas in the kitchen is believed to have triggered the blast.
