Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed assured the public that the rape and murder case of eight-year-old schoolgirl Ramisa would be tried swiftly to ensure justice.
Speaking at a press briefing at Home Ministry conference room, the minister said the government is committed to completing the trial process quickly through the prompt submission of the charge sheet.
“We can assure everyone that the exemplary trial in the Ramisa murder case will be completed swiftly through the quick submission of the charge sheet. However, we cannot comment on the punishment,” he said.
Ahmed stated that law enforcement agencies have been taking strong action against all heinous crimes since the BNP government assumed office, ensuring rapid arrests and investigations.
“You cannot point to any heinous crime since we took office where the matter was ignored or arrests were not made promptly,” he added.
Referring to the Ramisa case, the home minister said the prime accused, Sohel, along with his wife, was arrested within 24 hours of the incident. He also mentioned that the accused had already given a confessional statement before the court.
