Election Commissioner (EC) Anwarul Islam Sarkar said on Monday that it will be possible to announce the final results of the 13th National Parliamentary Election and the referendum by Friday afternoon (February 13), the day after voting.
Speaking to journalists at the Election Commission building, he said that although the parliamentary election and the referendum will be held on the same day, the use of modern automation systems and multiple digital devices will make it possible to collect information in the shortest possible time.
Although there may be slight delays in obtaining results from some remote areas due to transportation constraints, there will be no need to wait three days under any circumstances.
Anwarul Islam asserted confidently that, compared to any previous election, the electoral environment this time is far more favorable and peaceful.
Stating that public concerns surrounding the election have been largely addressed, the EC said that the commission is fully prepared to deliver an acceptable and transparent election on Thursday (February 12).
