A total of 387 July warriors have been upgraded to ‘A’ category from their previous ‘B’ and ‘C’ classifications, while 474 warriors earlier listed under the ‘C’ category have been promoted to ‘B’.
The Ministry of Liberation War Affairs issued a notification revising the category list on February 1, which was officially published in the government gazette on February 3.
The July warrior status was granted to individuals who were injured during the movement that led to the toppling of Awami League government on August 5, 2024.
Under the classification system, severely injured individuals are placed in ‘A’ category, seriously injured in ‘B’ and others with lesser injuries in ‘C’.
The government has released the lists of July warriors in multiple phases.
Earlier, the gazette recognition of 128 individuals was cancelled after authorities found false information or duplicate entries.
Government benefits vary according to injury category. Warriors in ‘A’ category receive a one-time payment of Tk500,000 along with a monthly allowance of Tk20,000.
Those in ‘B’ category receive a one-time Tk300,000 and a monthly allowance of Tk15,000, while individuals in ‘C’ category are provided with a one-time payment of Tk100,000 and a monthly allowance of Tk10,000.
